Thanks to resourcefulness of Volkswagen enthusiasts, here are a few more photos of the all-new seventh-generation Volkswagen Golf R. These photos, taken during the preview of the car in Germany shows the Golf R in better light.

To recap, at the heart of the latest Golf R is Volkswagen Group’s 2.0-litre TFSI EA888 engine that is shared with the all-new Audi S3. It delivers 221kW and 380Nm of torque, with 18 per cent better fuel economy. Power is sent to all four wheels via a fifth-generation Haldex all-wheel drive system driven by either a 6-speed manual or DSG transmission.

The range topping Golf will sprint from 0 – 100km/h in just 4.9 seconds when equipped with the DSG, down from 5.7 compared to the Mk6 Golf R. The manual model takes an extra 0.4 seconds, 0.6 seconds quicker than its predecessor.

To ensure great chassis dynamics, there’s a new sport suspension, the progressive variable-ratio steering system, and a stability control system (ESC Sport) which can now be deactivated for track driving. Other highlights include the optional DCC dynamic chassis control system that features a Race mode.

The 2014 Volkswagen Golf R will go on sale in Europe later this year. Australians will get their hands on the fast Golf towards the middle of 2014.
