New Honda NSX Powered by Hybrid

Happy 2012!

For those of you who followed my articles last year, Honda’s iconic supercar, the NSX is set to return after a decade of hibernation. This time, with a 400hp (298kW) all-wheel-drive hybrid powertrain.

The new NSX will be revealed at the Detroit Motor Show this month. As you can see from the spy shots of the concept car on the set of the new Avengers movie, the supercar will be sleeker and aerodynamically more accomplished then its forebear.

Honda has confirmed that the Detroit show car will be heavily based on the one in the movie and that a roadster is also on offer along with the coupé.

The Detroit concept car will also be badged as an Acura – the company’s North American luxury off shoot. However, the production version will be badged a Honda in other markets, including Europe and will retain the NSX name.

Power will come from a 3.5-litre V6 driving one axle and a pair of in-wheel electric motors to turn the other. Honda claims the new NSX will blast from 0-100km/h in under 5 seconds.

Stay tuned for more…..
