Lexus RC Convertible realistically rendered

Lexus RC Convertible render front

We at ForceGT are quite excited about the recently unveiled Lexus RC Coupé. It is one of the best-looking cars to come out of Lexus in recent times, besides the now legendary Lexus LF-A.

What’s more, riding on the all-new IS’ platform is not a bad thing either, as it is a highly capable chassis. Now that the coupé has been revealed, the motoring world wasted no time in speculating if Lexus will follow up with a drop-top version, and who better to provide us with a glimpse than Theophilus Chin.

The rendering artist recently posted these realistically imagined photos of the Lexus RC Convertible on his website. He has chosen to equip the car with a soft-top instead of the more fashionable hard-top.

With the aging IS C, it makes sense for the Japanese brand to consider a convertible with the coupé as a base. If it gets off the drawing board, expect the car to be powered by the same range of engine options as the coupé. This means a 3.5-litre V6 petrol for the RC 350C and an electric-hybrid consisting of a 2.5-litre four-cylinder petrol and an electric motor for the RC 300C hybrid.

Based on recent spy shots, it’s also likely that Lexus is keen to have an RC F Convertible to see of the upcoming BMW M4. As with Lexus’ current range of powerplant, the automaker is likely to eschew turbocharging for naturally-aspirated engines, using the powerful 5.0-litre V8 currently employed in the IS F tweaked to produce around 339kW (455bhp) and 543Nm.
