VIDEO: Italdesign Nissan GT-R50 hits the track for the first time

Italdesign’s unique Nissan GT-R50 has been unleashed onto the famed Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps in Belgium, proving the ultra-exclusive custom sports car is more than skin deep.

Described as a “GT-R without limits,” the car was created to mark the famous design house’ 50th anniversary and was first unveiled at the Goodwood Festival of Speed last month.

While looking like a futuristic concept, the car is actually a fully operational track weapon – as demonstrated by this video. This is hardly surprising as the GT-R Nismo based GT-R50 is propelled by an uprated 3.8-litre twin-turbo V6 churning out 529kW and 780Nm of torque.

The massive boost in power comes courtesy of a pair of turbochargers from a GT3 racecar, larger intercoolers, high-flow piston jets, revised camshaft profiles and higher-flow injectors.

To handle the extra firepower, the car’s six-speed gearbox has been reinforced and is now mated to stronger differentials and heavy-duty drive shafts.

As you would expect, the car’s suspension has also been revised, gaining a set of continuously adjustable Bilstein damping system, while stopping power comes from the six-piston front and four-piston rear Brembo brakes.
