Disappointment strikes as Volkswagen kills Golf R400 project

Volkswagen Golf R 400 concept front

The long awaited Volkswagen Golf R400 is reportedly no more.

It was two years ago at the Beijing Motor Show where Volkswagens Chief of Research and Development Heinz-Jakob Neusser, unveiled the Golf R400 Concept. It was this day our jaws dropped in awe of this menacingly powerful Golf R.

Alas, Volkswagen has shattered the dreams of thousands as insider reports dismiss any hope of the 294kW (400 PS) concept heading for production.

The loss stems from Neusser who was forced to resign in lieu of the dieselgate scandal which has forever blotched the automaker’s record.

However, not all is in vein, the Audi designed EA888 engine will allegedly make its way into future vehicles. We may even see it in the next generation Golf R, which is due after 2020.
