BMW Concept M4 Coupé unveiled – previews production model

BMW has taken the wraps off the Concept M4 Coupé, a thinly disguised model that previews the upcoming production model.

As expected, the most powerful BMW 4 Series sports an aggressive front bumper and power dome bonnet. Other M trademarks include ventilated front guards with ‘M4’ streak, an integrated boot lid spoiler and bespoke 20-inch alloy wheels with two-tone finish.

Compared to previous generations, the latest M4 also has more carbon fibre components, including the front splitter, roof and rear diffuser.

The sports coupé’s powerplant is still a closely guarded secret but BMW has hinted that the high performance engine offers “immense power”. However, as reported previously, it is highly likely that the new model will be powered by a twin-turbo 3.0-litre six-cylinder engine that generates around 335kW of power and 550Nm of torque.

“The BMW Concept M4 Coupé reflects the BMW M philosophy in ideal form: It combines motor racing genes and unrestricted everyday suitability in a highly emotional overall concept. For four generations, the BMW M3 has put motor racing on the road and the BMW Concept M4 Coupé consistently continues to pursue this fundamental idea. The new model designation “M4” refers – like all other BMW M automobiles – to the series on which this concept car is based,” explains Dr. Friedrich Nitschke, Chairman of the Managing Board of the BMW M GmbH.

The BMW Concept M4 Coupé will make its debut at the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance.
