Audi plans to have RS versions for every model

Audi has revealed plans to have an RS range-topper for close to every model in its line-up. Speaking to US publication, Car & Driver recently, Audi’s head of technical development, Dr Ulrich Hackenberg said “there will be RS versions topping almost every vehicle range.”

Audi currently has an RS version for its A5, A6, A7, TT and Q3 line-up. While nothing is official, spy photographers have caught what looked like the next RS3 testing on the Nürburgring recently.

Hackenberg further revealed that the next-generation Audi Q7 will sit on the second-generation MLB platform, which is dubbed MLB Evo. Like most new models these days, the new one will be significantly lighter than its predecessor and is slated to debut at the end of 2015.

Audi and Porsche is also said to be developing a new series of engine jointly. No details have been revealed as to what they are but Hackenberg said a V10 TDI, like the one found in the recently released Nanuk concept car, would be “easy to do” but nothing has been approved by the board.
