2015 Lexus RC F (IS F coupé) spied for the first time

Speculation has been rife about Lexus working on a BMW M4 challenger and now we have proof! The 2015 Lexus RC F (or IS F, whichever the marketing guys want to call it) has been spied for the first time and we are excited.

As promised by the Japanese premium brand, the RC F is inspired by the LF-CC Concept that premiered at the 2012 Paris Motor Show. From the photos, the wide bodied coupé shares a similar design theme at the front with the IS range but sports a wider front guard with air vent.

Its rear haunch is also pumped up, giving the car an athletic look. At the back, there is a subtle rear spoiler and the IS F’s trademark stacked four-tailpipe exhaust system.

The interior, as expected, is carried over from the IS sedan, which isn’t a bad thing as it is one of the best interiors in the segment.

There is no word on the car’s powerplant, but recent report indicates that Lexus will drop the 5.0-litre naturally aspirated V8 as it doesn’t meet Euro 6 emission standards. The company is considering both a naturally aspirated or turbocharged unit as a replacement. IS Chief Engineer, Junichi Furuyama has indicated his preference is a naturally aspirated unit as it offers a “more pure experience”.
