2011 Geneva Motor Show Preview: Audi A3 Sedan Concept

As the each successive Audi A4 grows bigger in size, it is only a matter of time before Audi feels the need to fill the void left by the bloated A4. With ever growing competition from it’s homeland rival BMW, Audi has finally released sketches of the car that will possibly be the answer to BMW’s 1-Series M Coupe. Unlike the 1-Series Coupe however, the new car from Ingolstadt will be a sporty four-door version of the A3 hatchback.

Due to make its first international appearance at the upcoming Geneva Motor Show, the four seater compact sports saloon measures 4.44m long, 1.84m wide and 1.39m tall. Powering all four wheels is a five-cylinder turbocharged 2.5 liter engine, expected to be the same unit found in the TT RS. This means the A3 sedan will have no less than 300 kW (406 bhp) to play with.

Featuring flared wheel arches and a low roof line, the A3 sedan is penned to look more like a low-slung 4-door coupe than a sedan. Up the front is Audi’s new six-sided grille made famous by the company’s A6 saloon. Audi’s renown LED technology is also part of the lighting package.
