Is this the new 2016 Nissan GT-R?

Get set for the first pictures of the all-new 2016 Nissan GT-R. We wished.

What you see here are fresh new renderings of the next-generation GT-R by the folks at TopSpeed. Yup, renderings will have to do for now, and we will surely see a lot of these in the coming years, as the GT-R won’t bow in until 2016.

Taking cues from the current generation Nissan GT-R, the TopSpeed artists and graphic design team have created a few exclusive previews of where the GT-R’s styling will go in the next generations.

The predictions are purely speculative design studies and show a more futuristic, lower and wider GT-R. It features a set of boomerang headlamps and the new soon-to-be Nissan corporate V-bar grille up the front. The car retains the current air intake setup, but adds a slim bonnet scoop just above the grille.

Down the side, the new GT-R appears to be sleeker with a lower roof line. The daylight opening, or window line, appears to be carved lower into the door frame than today, while the rear three-quarter glass arcs upward instead of downward on the current car.

At the back, additional venting and aero detailing is visible near the lower diffuser areas but it’s a shame the GT-R’s signature quad circular tail lights are gone to make place for a pair of C-shape, 370Z inspired lights.

A good effort overall and it’s always interesting to see renderings like this from creative artists.

Little is known about the next-generation GT-R but speculation has suggested that it will most likely be some sort of hybrid supercar.
