Video: Drag Race – 2012 Nissan GT-R vs 2011 Nissan GT-R

Arguably one of the most publicised super-cars on the planet, the Nissan GT-R grabs a headline everywhere it goes.

The 2012 GT-R is not much more different than the 2011 model it replaces, safe for a new front bumper with LED daytime running lights and a new rear bumper.

However, there is one significant difference: the 2011 GT-R lags a launch control system as Nissan dropped it from MY2010 following the controversy over its use in 2009 models.  Back then, using it meant saying good-bye to the car’s warranty.

With launch control back on the 2012 GT-R’s equipment list in a revised form, Nissan now allows customers to use it four times in a row, before being programmed to shut off to protect the transmission.

Like the original launch control, the new system (LC4) launches from 4,000 rpm, making the latest and more powerful supercar a lot faster compared to the 2011 GT-R in a straight line race.
