BMW X5 M and X6 M Competition set for Q2 2020 launch

BMW will further enhance its line-up of high performance M crossover vehicles with the introduction of the all-new X5 M Competition and X6 M Competition models in Q2, 2020.

The third generation BMW X5 M and X6 M Competition combine supreme power and performance with exceptional versatility and practicality.

Both models feature modern, luxurious and generous proportions that demand attention. The signature BMW M kidney grille with black double bars adorn the front design along with matching M gills, exterior mirror caps, diffuser trim in the rear apron and exhaust pipes in black.

The new BMW X5 M and BMW X6 M Competition are both powered by a twin-turbo 4.4-litre V8 engine petrol engine that develops 460kW and 750Nm, enough to propel the SUVs from 0 to 100km/h in a blistering 3.8 seconds.

Power is delivered instantaneously through an eight-speed M Steptronic transmission with Drivelogic whereby gearshift characteristics can be adjusted via the Drivelogic button on the M-specific selector lever. For added control, manual gear shifting is available via M shift paddles on the steering wheel.

In addition, the M xDrive all-wheel-drive system and Active M Differential produce rear- wheel bias driving dynamics and work cohesively together to create agile, performance- focused handling.

Specifically tuned M chassis and suspension geometry further elevate the all-round capability of the BMW X5 M and X6 M Competition. A combination of stiff suspension mountings, enhanced camber values and continual electronic damper adjustment at each wheel allow for spirited cornering or comfortable touring drives.

Compound brakes with integrated braking system offer significant stopping power through the fusion of brake activation, brake booster and braking control functions within a single compact module. The electronic actuator regulates brake pressure to suit the driving environment and maintains superb pedal feel.

Australian pricing and specification detail will be released closer to the launch date.
