The Nissan 370z was launched back in 2009 and since then has not seen any major updates. For 2013 however, Nissan has summoned the help of the company’s in-house tuning arm Nismo and announced a “badder” version of the 2-seater rear wheel drive sports coupe called Nissan 370z Nismo.
Under the bonnet, the car’s 3.7-litre V6 engine stays but has been given a tweak to lift power up from the standard 245kW to 261kW. Torque figure has also increased from 362Nm to 370 Nm. Power is sent to the rear wheels via a six-speed manual transmission giving a o-100 km/h sprint time of just 5.2 seconds, down 0.2 seconds compared to the standard model.
The boost in power comes from a new higher flow sports exhaust system and a retuned engine management unit (ECU).
Aesthetic wise, the Nissan 370z Nismo spots a bigger rear diffuser, new side skirts, fixed rear spoiler and a new front lip spoiler. The car rides on a new set of 19-inch forged wheels made by Rays Engineering wrapped in sticky Yokohama Advan Sport tyres measuring 245/40R19 at the front and 285/35/R19 for the rear.
Nismo has also sharpened the 370z’s handling by replacing the standard springs and dampers with firmer Nismo items, while the addition of a strut brace tighten things up even further.
The interior gets new black and red trim, Nismo sport seats and a new steering wheel wrapped in Alcantara.
The Nissan 370z Nismo was recently displayed at the 2013 Tokyo Auto Salon and will make its way to showrooms in the US and Europe later this year. Unfortunately, the car was not being considered for Australia.
