Clemens Motorsport tuned Peugeot 208 GTi with up to 177kW

The good thing about computer controlled modern engines is they are very tune-able. Most engines are capable of putting out a lot more power than what the factory built them to produce, especially turbocharged engines.

Take the new Peugeot 208 GTi for example, it delivers 147kW of power and 275Nm of torque from its 1.6-litre turbocharged four-cylinder engine in stock. However, with just a Stage 1 kit from Clemens Motorsport of Germany, which essentially remaps the hot hatch’s ECU, it will push out 162-165kW. The cost? A very reasonable €750.

If you want a bit more, then Stage 2 is where the fireworks happen. For €2,050, you get between 173-177kW, courtesy of freer breathing plumbing and better cooling. There is also a new exhaust system with double 70mm pipes that puts out a mesmerising soundtrack.
