BMW 428i-based AC Schinitzer ACS4 2.8i Coupé front quarter

BMW has partnered with the Associate of German Vehicles Tuners (VDAT) to come up with this year’s “TUNE IT! SAFE!” vehicle, a BMW 428i Coupé by Aachen-based BMW tuning specialist, AC Schinitzer.

VDAT launches a special concept car every year under the motto “Only serious and safe tuning will bring the driving fun you want!” and this year is no different. The AC Schinitzer ACS4 2.8i Coupé is based on the BMW 428i Coupé and develops 216kW (294 hp) and 420Nm from the 2.0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder engine, up from 180kW (245 hp) and 345Nm.

It will storm from a standstill to 100km/h in 5.7 seconds, and accomplish 80-180km/h in 12.7 seconds en route to its electronically-limited top speed of 250km/h.

Besides giving the BMW 4 Series extra oomph, AC Schinitzer has also installed a set of 21-inch forged alloy wheels wrapped in Hankook 245/30ZR21 Ventus S1evo tyres (reduces rotary forces by a perceptible 100kg, a height-adjustable race-spec suspension that is lowered by 25mm, and an aero kit comprising of new front and rear spoilers, rear diffuser and a rear roof-mounted spoiler.

To make the BMW visually into a “true” police car, TUNE IT! SAFE! partner, FOLIATEC provided the official film wrap, and Hella the special signalling system RTK 7.

Inside the cockpit, AC Schinitzer has thrown in a set of aluminium pedals and foot rest, a “Black Line” handbrake handle, velour floor mats and a new key holder.

The car is on show at the 2013 Essen Motor Show from 29th November to 8th December 2013.
