Mulgari Icon03 is a bespoke M2 Competition slaying BMW M240i

UK-based tuner, Mulgari Automotive has unveiled its Icon03 project which might just send a shiver or two down the BMW M2 Competition.

That’s because its B58 3.0-litre turbocharged straight-six has been tweaked to produce a healthy boost in both power and torque – in fact, significantly more than the M2 Competition’s 302kW and 550Nm.

No official figures have been released yet, but Mulgari says it makes just under 373kW and 589Nm, which should be enough to eclipse the M2 Competition’s zero to 100km/h sprint of 4.2 seconds.

Besides adding a full Akrapovic exhaust system that promises an exhilarating soundtrack, Mulgari has also tweaked the Icon03’s chassis and suspension “to create a car full of purist driving dynamics, a homage to the great Bavarian driving machines, past and present.”

According to the tuner, its custom 2 Series Coupé will not only come with good on road compliant but also sharp and responsive track ability. To demonstrate that, Mulgari has announced it will attempt to set a lap time at the Nürburgring in late July with the Icon03.

Aesthetically, the Icon03 mimics the M2 with a widebody kit to complement the car’s wider tracks and bigger wheels shod with wider tyres – 255 cross section front and 275 rear).

Many of the car’s carbon fibre elements have also been designed to pay tribute to some of BMW’s most iconic M models, such as the dimpled carbon roof which harks back to the E46 M3 CSL, and the extended wings in a tribute to the E30 M3.

While the aero kit is no doubt eye-catching, they are also functional, including the full-width front splitter and flat floor which add downforce.

Inside, there is a pair of Recaro sports front seats, a flat-bottom steering wheel with extended carbon shift paddles, along with colour accented trims and stitching.

Mulgari says it will build just 25 of the Icon03 so if you want one, you’d better be quick!
