Volkswagen Golf R now offered in 40 new shades in the U.S.

Volkswagen of America has introduced what it calls the Volkswagen Spektrum Program for the 2019 Volkswagen Golf R in the U.S that adds 40 new shades to the hot hatch’s colour palette, including a Viper Green Metallic from the Lamborghini Huracan.

Some of the colours pay homage to VW’s past, like Deep Blue Pearl from the Mk4 and Mk5 Golf R32, Ginster Yellow from the 1997 Driver’s Edition GTI and Mars Red from the original Mk1 GTI, while others like Nogaro Blue Pearl, Violet Touch Metallic, Caribbean Green and Copper Orange Metallic will ‘make the Golf R stand out’.

The cost? An additional US$2,500.

Volkswagen of America says it will soon add a builder tool to its website to that customers can test out all 40 different colours on their car. Also on its way to all dealership showrooms is a colour sample kit, which will allow customers to view each of the 40 colours duplicated on paint-shop quality colour cards.

Customers choosing one of these bespoke colours should be prepared to wait approximately two to four months for their cars to be built.
