Video: Range Rover Sport and Evoque ‘RS’ spotted

Range Rover has been spotted testing prototypes of hotter ‘RS’ versions of its Range Rover Sport and Evoque models.

Caught undergoing dynamics and handling tests at the Nürburgring in Germany, Land Rover has yet to officially confirm the addition of RS line to its range, but rumours has it that the Evoque RS will be the first to hit showrooms, followed by the more expensive Sport RS.

According to certain reports, the Evoque RS will sport a tweaked version of the 2.0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder petrol engine lifted out of the Evoque Si4, which itself is a development of Ford’s EcoBoost engine. Power will be lifted from 177kW to approximately 224kW.

As for the larger Range Rover Sport RS, it is expected to come with a 5.0-litre V8 engine churning out 405kW, enough to propel the luxury SUV from 0-100km/h in less than 5.0 seconds.

Both models will likely wear a slightly more aggressive body kit, with bigger wheels and brakes, as well as sports suspension.

If true, the first model is expected to hit showrooms as early as 2014.
