Video: Mercedes-Benz S-Class Coupé Concept

Update: This is the new Mercedes-Benz S-Class Coupé, the spiritual successor to the CL. The almost production ready model boasts an aggressive front fascia and proper GT proportions. The muscular wheel arches house redesigned 21-inch wheels separated by a generous 2,945mm wheelbase.

Overall length is 5,050mm and it measures 1,985mm wide and 1,409mm in height. Under the bonnet lives a 4,633cc V8 Biturbo engine developing 339kW and 700Nm.

Inside, the dashboard is large carried over from the S-Class sedan. Two 12.3-inch screen with 8:3 aspect ratio takes care of instruments and infotainment requirements. It benefits from the Intelligent Drive technology comprising of two stereo cameras providing a 3D view of the area up to approximately 50 meters in front of the car with support for object detection and movement.

Mercedes-Benz has released a teaser video of the Mercedes-Benz S-Class Coupé Concept ahead of the car’s debut at the Frankfurt Motor Show.

Set to be called either the CL or S-Class Coupé, the grand tourer will be based on the new S-Class and set to get all the advanced technology from the four-door sedan, including the most powerful engines, while being a little sexier. As can be seen from the sketch and a few close up photos, the S-Class Coupé Concept is set to continue Mercedes-Benz retro styling cues for the front and a sleek profile.

An AMG version is also likely to be on the cards.
