Some might be disappointed that the 2022 Subaru BRZ is still without a turbocharge engine as hoped but like the first-generation model, most will likely turn to an aftermarket tuner for help.
However, what if Subaru did come up with a BRZ STI for the new model? Well, X-Tomi thinks it could be possible and gave us a virtual taste of the flagship model.
The first things that strike you about the rendering are the trademark STI bronze wheels and prominent bonnet scoop that feeds fresh air into the top-mounted ‘intercooler’.
Elsewhere, the designer has also beefed-up the front fascia with more aggressive air intakes, while the rear end has been equipped with a fixed rear wing for a racier look.
Subaru has never sold the first-gen BRZ as a full-fat STI model, with the closest being the tweaked BRZ tS, which is a more track-focused variant without the full STI treatment.
A BRZ STI with a turbocharged strapped onto the 2.4-litre flat-four engine is definitely a very tantalising proposition indeed!
