Official: 2020 Volkswagen Mk8 Golf enters production June 2019

Volkswagen has officially announced the Mk8 Golf is set to go into production at the Wolfsburg plant 75 weeks from now, which according to our calendar is the last week of June 2019.

This means we will likely get a glimpse of the new model as early as October this year at the Paris Motor Show either in concept or pre-production form.

“In 75 weeks, the eight-generation of the bestseller in the compact segment is to roll off the production lines at Volkswagen’s main plant, in Wolfsburg, Europe’s largest car factory,” Volkswagen announced at the ‘Golf 8 Supplier Submit’ a few days ago.

Details of the 2020 Volkswagen Golf are scarce for now, but the new model will be based on an evolution of the current car’s MQB platform and will most certainly be lighter. We can also expect better technologies, including semi-autonomous driving and further development of the eGolf plug-in hybrid variant.
