More powerful Porsche Boxster and Cayman GTS unveiled

.

Porsche has unveiled two of the most powerful mid-engine sports models in its line-up – the Boxster GTS and Cayman GTS.

Perched at the top of the Porsche Boxster and Cayman range, the duo will continue to share the 3.4-litre six-cylinder boxer engine from the Boxster S and Cayman S respectively.

But thanks to optimized fine tuning, they now deliver an additional 11kW (15hp). This means the Boxster GTS now produces 243kW (330hp), whilst the Cayman GTS delivers 250kW (340hp). Torque has also been dialed up by 10Nm in each model to 370Nm (273 lb-ft) in the Boxster GTS and 380Nm (280 lb-ft) in the Cayman GTS. The Sport Chrono package is now standard on both models.

When paired with the optional Doppelkupplungsgetriebe (PDK) gearbox together with the active Sport Plus button, the Boxster GTS will accomplish the century sprint in 4.7 seconds, whilst the Cayman GTS needs just 4.6 seconds.

According to Porsche, the Boxster GTS is the first new premium roadster to top 281km/h (with 6-speed manual transmission). The Cayman adds an extra 4km/h to its top end.

Despite the impressive performance, the pair of Porsches meet the stringent Euro 6 emission standard and consumes just 8.2L/100km (PDK) of fuel. Manual models add 0.8L/100km/h.

Both models come equipped with Porsche Active Suspension Management (PASM) and 20-inch alloy wheels borrowed from the 911 Carrera S as standard. They are wrapped in 235/35 front and 265/35 rear tyres.

Visually, the pair gets darkened bi-xenon headlights with Porsche Dynamic Light System as standard as well as restyled front and rear bumpers. Inside, both models come with sports seats and leather interiors as standard. Like other GTS models from Porsche, they are refined with Alcantara elements.

The pair will go on sale in Germany beginning May.
