Mitsubishi has released a teaser image of a new concept SUV that will debut at the 2016 Paris Motor Show in September. Called the Ground Tourer Concept, Mitsubishi’s latest concept aims to showcase the latest evolution of the company’s new design philosophy and SUV ambitions.

The shadowy image gives a glimpse of the Ground Tourer Concept’s sleek side profile, which is reinforced with a black A pillar, floating roof in a different colour and strong shoulder lines.

The concept builds on Mitsubishi’s suite of new generation SUVs, following the launch of the XR PHEV II shown at the 2015 Geneva Motor Show and eX Concept, which debut at Tokyo Motor Show late last year.

Mitsubishi says the all-new SUV coupe concept is designed to express “functional beauty and Japanese craftsmanship”, while featuring the carmaker’s advanced plug-in hybrid electric (PHEV) technology for effortless cruising on and off the beaten track. The concept also promises to accommodate passengers in “hushed comfort and the sleek design of its finely crafted interior”.

The Mitsubishi Ground Tourer Concept will be unveiled at the 2016 Paris Motor Show which begins on Thursday 29 September.
