Lamborghini considering new 2+2 GT model

Lamborghini is reportedly contemplating a new model that would be positioned between the Huracan and Aventador.

While details are scarce at the moment, rumours suggest the new model could be based on the MSB platform that underpins the recently unveiled Porsche Panamera. The benefit is of course, lower development and production costs. It also means the model could hit the market much sooner than if a new platform was developed from scratch.

There is also speculation that the model could be a resurrected front engine Miura, inspired by the Asterion concept (shown here), with a 2+2 interior.

If it pans out, the new model won’t be the only Lamborghini to utilise Volkswagen Group’s platform, as the soon to be released Lamborghini Urus will ride on the same architecture as the Audi Q7 and Bentley Bentayga.

Meanwhile, Lamborghini is understood to want to further separate the next-generation Aventador and Huracan in terms of styling pricing and specification. They will reportedly feature hybrid powertrains to please ever more stringent government requirements.
