Is this the next-gen 2021 Audi A3 sedan?

With the eight-generation Volkswagen Golf now in production, it’s safe to say it won’t be too long before we see the next-generation Audi A3, which is based on the Golf.

But for those who can’t wait, here’s a glimpse of what the next-gen model could look like. Courtesy of our Russian pals over at Kolesa.ru, these renderings of the 2021 Audi A3 sedan show the new model adopting an evolutionary design of the current model, which is highly likely if previous iterations of the A3 are of any indication.

More obvious, however, are the A4 design cues in the rendering which make the car look like a smaller version of the current-generation A4. We are not complaining as it does look pretty and contemporary.

As with the current model, the next-gen A3 will compete against the Mercedes-Benz A-Class and BMW 1 Series, with the hotter S3 and RS 3 models taking on the likes of the AMG A 45 and BMW M2.

Engine options for the smallest Audi sedan are expected to mirror those of its MQB-based Volkswagen siblings, and that means we should see a mild-hybrid model as well as a plug-in hybrid variant available right from launch.
