BMW M8 supercar reportedly due in 2016 with 447-484kW

New speculations have emerged about the BMW M8, which is purportedly set to debut in 2016 to coincide with BMW’s centenary celebration.

According to a recent report by Car & Driver, the M8 (BMW M1 concept shown here) will be underpinned by the BMW i8’s platform and gets its power from a tweaked version of the M5’s 4.4-litre turbocharged direct-injected V8 engine. It is expected to deliver between 447-484kW (600-650bhp) of power and paired with an eight-speed twin-clutch transmission.

As a range topper within the BMW line-up, the M8 is expected to be constructed of exotic materials, such as carbon fibre, magnesium, aluminium and titanium. It is believed that the target weight for the supercar is 1,252kg.

According to the source, the BMW M8 will introduce some retro styling cues and comes with an approximate price tag of €250,000.
