All-New Jeep Renegade joins compact SUV party

Jeep has descended into the fast growing small SUV segment with the all-new 2015 Jeep Renegade. Staying true to the brand’s renown 4×4 capability, the Jeep Renegade claims to deliver best-in-class off-road capability, open-air freedom and convenience, and a segment-first nine-speed automatic transmission.

“The all-new 2015 Jeep Renegade symbolises the brand’s renowned design, ingenuity and innovation, marking the Jeep brand’s first entry into the small SUV segment,” said Mike Manley, President and CEO – Jeep.

“Renegade expands the brand’s product portfolio and targets the rapidly expanding small SUV segment with a best-in-class combination of fuel efficiency and off-road capability, while at the same time delivering outstanding driving dynamics and the open-air freedom customers expect from Jeep.”

From the start, Jeep designers set out to create a city-sized SUV with no compromise in off-road prowess. The Renegade continues to inherit the brand’s rugged style while offering versatility, maneuverability and style.

At launch, three engine choices will be offered. The entry-level 1.6-litre E-torQ engine generates 81kW and 152Nm. Next up is the 1.4-litre MultiAir Turbo four-cylinder engine producing 103kW and 230Nm. The 2.4-litre Tigershark I-4 engine is the most powerful in the lineup, developing 130kW and 230Nm.

All engines are mated to a nine-speed automatic transmission with Eco Mode.

The all-new Jeep Renegade interior features a rugged and energetic appearance. It offers two class-exclusive “My Sky” open-air roof systems. With a manual removable, or premium power tilt/slide with removable feature, the innovative “My Sky” roof-panel systems quickly bring the outdoors inside. Designed for convenience, the honeycomb fiberglass polyurethane roof panels are lightweight and stow neatly in the rear cargo area.

Leveraging 4×4 technology from the all-new Jeep Cherokee, the 2015 Renegade range will also get the Trailhawk bush-basher, offering Jeep’s Active Drive Low – a full-time 4×4 system with 20:1 crawl ratio, one of Jeep’s most advanced and intelligent 4×4 systems.

The new Jeep Renegade is expected to arrive in Australian showrooms in the second half of 2015. Full pricing and specification will be announced closer to local launch.
