All-New Jeep Compass breaks cover

Jeep has unveiled the all-new Compass compact crossover today. Positioned in between the smaller Jeep Renegade and mid size Jeep Cherokee, the new Jeep Compass has been, for the first time, designed from the ground up as a global-market model and will go on sale in more than 100 countries around the globe.

The brand has announced 17 “fuel-efficient” powertrain options for the new Compass, but stopped short of providing more details. The American manufacturer has, however, claimed that the 2017 Compass will offer “unmatched combination of attributes” that includes a best-in-class 4×4 off-road system, superior on-road driving dynamics, open-air freedom, and a host of safety and advanced technology.

Ditching the boxy look of the outgoing model, the new Compass adopts a much more sculpted design with a hint of Italian influence from parent company Fiat. Inside, the crossover moves upmarket with a suave interior complete with leather and detail stitching.

The Compass is also said to be the most capable compact SUV ever, mixing the best qualities from both the Renegade and Cherokee, including proper off-road driving programs and the UConnect infotainment system.

Fiat Chrysler Automobile (FCA) has confirmed the Compass for the Australian market. Slated for local launch in late 2017, the new Compass will make its official debut at the Los Angeles Auto Show in November.
