Mazda has today revealed the tough new look for its BT-50 ute, blending sleek new styling with rugged capability.
Adopting styling elements from the current-generation Mazda CX-9 large SUV, the new 2021 Mazda BT-50 ute features the brand’s corporate three-dimensional grille which is flanked by a pair of sculpted headlamps.
The bold frontal makeover brings the BT-50’s styling more in line with the rest of the Mazda family, which all adopt the company’s famed Kodo design language. Further styling changes are evident on the side of the ute, where sweeping crease lines run from the front grille out towards the wing mirrors, paired with an unbroken centre line that flows from front to rear, combining to ensure a sleek yet powerful appearance.
Inside, the BT-50 pushes upmarket with improved cabin materials throughout. The redesigned dashboard has a horizontal layout extending from door-to-door, giving a better sense of space.
Fitted with a telescopic steering column, the interior also features a large touchscreen infotainment system with functionality including wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
The new BT-50 was developed in partnership with Isuzu and so shares the same 3.0-litre turbo diesel engine with the Isuzu D-Max. Renown for its reliability, it packs 140kW of power and 450Nm of torque, and drives through either a six-speed manual or automatic transmission.
Mazda’s commitment to offering best-in-class safety carries over from passenger cars and SUVs to the new BT-50, bringing new features to the segment to ensure Brand-New Mazda BT-50 is the safest in its class.
For the first time Adaptive Cruise Control, Auto Emergency Braking, Lane Keep Assist, Blind Spot Monitoring and Rear Cross Traffic Alert are all available as standard equipment across the range.
The new 2021 Mazda BT-50 is scheduled to go on sale in Australia in Q4, 2020. Full pricing and specification is listed below.
