New details about the next-generation Nissan GT-R have emerged. According a report by German publication, AutoBild, the new model will be propelled by a hybrid powerplant similar to the one used in the GT-R LM Nismo.
The Le Mans challenger features a hybrid system consisting of a twin-turbo 3.0-litre V6 petrol engine assisted by an electric motor. It is connected to a 5-speed sequential gearbox with pneumatic paddle shift system.
The powerplant in the GT-R LM Nismo is said to produce a massive 919kW (1,250PS) but expect the next-generation GT-R to come with around 515kW (700PS) to reduce fuel consumption.
Unlike the racer which is front engine, front drive, the new GT-R will be front engine, rear drive when it arrives sometime in 2018.
In terms of styling, the new car will be edgier and likely draw inspiration from the stunning 2020 Vision Concept Gran Turismo shown at the Goodwood Festival of Speed last year, as well as being lighter.
