2017 Mazda3 facelift unveiled. Arrives in Australia August

The updated 2017 Mazda3 has been unveiled in Japan today, with the model hitting Australian showrooms in August.

As you can see from these images of the Japanese model, where it is known as the Axela, the facelift is subtle. This is not a bad thing as the Mazda3 is one of the best-looking models in its class.

Up front, the updated front fascia gains a revised grille, new headlights and a repositioned Mazda badge. At the back, the changes are even subtler and is limited to just a restyled bumper.

Moving into the cabin, the 2017 model picks up a new steering wheel and matte chrome highlights for the dashboard and doors. Higher grade models also get an electronic park brake and a sliding lid for the centre console.

The 3’s Head-Up Display has been rejigged and is said to be a full colour unit that is brighter, has better contrast and a higher resolution. The information is now split into two levels.

Cars equipped with memory seat function will also save the position and angle of the Head-Up Display.

The facelifted Mazda3 is the first model in Mazda’s range to get the company’s G-Vectoring Control System, which promises to deliver improved driving dynamics by subtly cutting engine torque.

The facelifted Mazda3 goes on sale in Australia on August 1, with local specification and pricing to be confirmed closer to launch.
