2017 Alfa Romeo Giulia Quadrifoglio pricing announced

Alfa Romeo has announced the pricing for its range-topping Giulia Quadrifoglio, and it will be more expensive than the BMW M3, coming in at $143,900 plus on-road costs.

Packing a Ferrari-inspired 375kW/600Nm twin-turbo 2.9-litre V6 petrol teamed with an 8-speed automatic, the sports sedan dashes from 0-100km/h in just 3.9 seconds – 0.2 seconds quicker than its Munich rival – before hitting a top speed of 309km/h.

The engine also features cylinder deactivation to save fuel, which the maker claims is the most fuel efficient car in its class, with a European combined economy figure of just 8.2L/100km.

The Giulia QV also features active aerodynamics, another first for its class. The front splitter lowers at speed to create best-in-class downforce in all conditions.

The Giulia QV arrives standard with a torque vectoring system – integrated into the technologically advanced chassis domain control – heralding an ability to improve agility of the vehicle, safety, traction, improved steering response, and vehicle handling attitude.

The Giulia Quadrifoglio also holds the current lap record for a production sedan at the famed Nürburgring Nordscheife, taking just 7 minutes 32 seconds, edging out the Porsche Panamera Turbo which takes 7:38 around the circuit.

The Giulia QV will go on sale in Australia on the 16 February.

The local line-up will also consist of the Giulia, Giulia Super and Giulia Veloce.
