2016 Lexus GS F V8 hits Australian shores priced from $148,800

The highly anticipated 2016 Lexus GS F has launched in Australia priced from $148,800 – cheaper than a Mercedes-Benz C63 AMG S!

Powered by a stonking naturally aspirated 5.0-litre V8, the fourth model in the F line up produces 351kW of power and 530Nm of torque. The V8 drives the rear wheels via an 8-speed automatic transmission linked to a G-sensor to enable it to select the most suitable gear for dynamic driving.

It also features a race-developed, fully adjustable torque vectoring differential that splits the amount of torque between the left and right driving wheels to optimise handling performance.

Lexus Australia chief executive Peter McGregor said the GS F brings a new level of dynamism to Lexus Australia’s local offering.

“GS F is the perfect complement to our line-up of exhilarating F models alongside the impressive RC F coupe,” Mr McGregor said.

“It matches a richly rewarding driving experience with the practicality and smoothness of a four-door sedan, offering customers the ability to transport occupants and their luggage in comfort and luxury.

“It brings this together with stunning exterior styling, premium driver-focused cockpit and a high level of standard specification to deliver an excellent value proposition.”

Lexus has tuned the exhaust system to help achieve a more baritone note, but also added an electronic sound system in the cabin designed to heighten the aural experience.

The GS F sports a bespoke suspension system complete with custom coil springs and ZF SACHS monotube dampers. It rolls on 19-inch forged aluminium dark metallic finished wheels shod with split-width Michelin Pilot Super Sport tyres – 255/35R19 front and 275/35R19 rear.

Stopping power comes courtesy of Brembo disc brakes borrowed from the RC F coupe. It features 380mm disc up front clamped by six-piston opposed calipers, and 345mm rear with four-piston calipers.

Inside, the Lexus GS F is the first Lexus F model to be equipped with a head-up display that provides current speed, audio information, lane guidance display and Sports Mode Display, which is exclusive to the F model.

Standard features include:

– Alcantara seat with heating front and rear
