2016 Kia Sportage officially unveiled

Kia has finally unveiled its all-new 2016 Kia Sportage ahead of its global debut at the Frankfurt Motor Show on September 15, 2015.

The fourth-generation Sportage features a bold and “progressive” design, with the contrast of smooth and sharp shades said to be found on some of the most iconic modern fighter jets.

The car’s headlights no longer integrate with the grille, instead sweeping back along the outer edges of the bonnet. Kia’s prominent ‘tiger-nose’ now sits on the lower half of the Sportage’s face, along with a pair of “four-pot” daytime lights.

From the side, the new Sportage retains the swept-back silhouette of the outgoing model, with a roofline that tapers slightly towards the rear of the car. It sits on a longer wheelbase, with longer front overhangs but shorter rears.

At the back, the horizontal forms and surface volume serves to emphasise the car’s width. The slender taillights are inspired by the 2013 Kia Provo concept and are joined by a strip that runs the width of the rear.

Kia has not revealed any technical details at this stage, which is expected at the car’s official debut.
