A pre-production 2016 Honda Civic Sedan has been caught without a shred of camouflage in Ann Arbor, Michigan.
First published by CivicX enthusiasts forum, the 10th generation Civic looks much sleeker than the current model; adopting a fastback, coupe style rear end featuring striking boomerang-shaped taillights that reaches out into the tailgate.
At the front, the new model gets a chunky chrome grille that extends above the slender headlights. Chrome is also featured around the car’s side windows for a touch of class.
According to reports, the new Civic will be motivated by a newly developed 1.5-litre four-cylinder turbocharged VTEC petrol engine with up to 140kW mated to short-shift 6-speed manual or an optional CVT. Honda says the new mill is as frugal as a hybrid, signaling the death of the Civic Hybrid.
Inside, the new model will herald a number of Civic firsts, including a comprehensive touch-screen infotainment system featuring Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity. Amongst the safety features making their debut on the Civic includes Honda’s LaneWatch system. Honda has also decided to drop the two-tier dash for a more conventional dash layout.
While the model shown in these spy shots is the US-spec version, Australian models are expected to look largely the same.
