The facelifted 2015 Audi A7 and S7 Sportback is now on sale in Australia. Thoroughly revised with smarter styling, better equipment and more technology, the three model range kicks off with the A7 V6 3.0 TDI quattro at $115,400 RRP.
The single-turbo 3.0 TDI produces 160kW/500Nm and is equipped with a seven-speed S tronic dual-clutch transmission, enabling the car to reach 100km/h from rest in 6.8 seconds, while returning a claimed combined average of 5.2L/100km.
Priced from $144,900, the high-output 3.0 TDI Biturbo produces 235kW and 650Nm, and is mated to an eight-speed tiptronic transmission. It boasts impressive acceleration performance, despatching 0-100km/h in 5.2 secs, while returning a claimed combined fuel consumption of 6.1 L/100km.
The top of the range S7 Sportback is priced from $179,900 and powered by a 4.0-litre TFSI Biturbo V8 that produces 331kW and 550Nm. It will dash from 0-100km/h in 4.6 seconds and returns a claimed 9.3L/100km in average combined fuel consumption.
The 4.0 TFSI utilises an unusual ‘hot side, inside’ exhaust concept, where the twin-turbos sit inside the 90-degree vee. In addition, four of the eight cylinders can be deactivated under light throttle loads for the benefit of efficiency, and any unwanted harmonics this may cause are suppressed in the passenger cabin by an Active Noise Cancellation (ANC) system that broadcasts through the sound system’s speakers.
The new models’ redesigned front fascia gets a new singleframe grille, lower front splitter that now appears in a more cohesive line across the width of the car and larger air inlets that feature twin chrome highlights. The effect is to give the A7 Sportback a wider stance.
For the first time, the A7 Sportback is also available with Audi’s new Matrix LED headlight and standard dynamic turning indicators across the range.
At the rear, the A7 Sportback features new LED rear tail lights in a flatter design, trapezoidal tailpipe trims and a bold, contrasting diffuser.
Inside, a new high-resolution Driver Information System (DIS) sits in between the speedometer and tachometer readouts, and can display crystal-clear map-based navigation right in the driver’s natural field of vision. This intelligent ergonomic innovation from Audi is powered by the new-generation MIB2 infotainment system, which itself is driven by the latest Nvidia Tegra 30 quad-core processor.
There’s also subtle enhancements throughout the interior, like the new details in aluminium – primarily around the air vents and MMI controls. The gear selector lever has also been redesigned, for cleaner visuals and also for improved haptics.
