2011 Geneva Motor Show: Toyota Unveils FT-86 II Concept

The long anticipated sports coupe from Toyota is moving closer to production as the world’s biggest car maker unveils the FT-86 II Concept at the Geneva Motor Show today.

Designed to be a light-weight front engined rear wheel drive coupe, the FT-86 II signals Toyota’s comeback to making fun to drive sports cars. Powered by a Subaru-derived boxer engine. the FT-86 II is the world’s only front engined rear drive sports car with a horizontally opposed engine layout. This new design not only saves weight but also lowers the car’s center of gravity. Both Toyota and Subaru have remained tight lipped about the car’s power and performance figures, however.

Production is expected to begin later this year and we think the FT-86 II will be very well received.
