Danish duo Kristian Poulsen and Christoffer Nygaard surprised the crowd at Sachsenring by snatching the first ADAC GT Masters victory for the new Aston Martin V12 Vantage GT3. The race is the third round in the 2012 season, held between 8th and 10th June at the historic Sachenring circuit in Germany.
Race winner Christoffer Nygaard said after the race: “Incredible! We never thought that we had a chance of winning here. I wasn’t too sure which position I was in just before the pit stop. When I saw the pit board showing P1, I could hardly believe my eyes! Kristian did a fantastic job in the second half of the race. His performance deserves the utmost respect.”
Team mate of Nygaard and driver of the winning team, Kristian Poulsen said: “That was really good today. At first, I was a bit concerned, because I was having trouble with the clutch and with second and third gears. Meanwhile, the chasing bunch were getting closer. But after five laps, the problem sorted itself out and I was able to control the gap.”
Finishing second place is the Audi R8 LMS of Prosperia UHC Speed driven by Edward Sandström and Christopher Mies. Coming in third 1.4 second later is team Schubert Motorsport in a BMW Z4 GT3 driven by Abdulaziz Al Faisal and Mirko Bortolotti.
