Oettinger upstages Volkswagen GTI TCR with TCR Germany Street

While the Volkswagen Golf GTI TCR is stealing the headlines at the Wörthersee 2018, elsewhere, longtime VW tuner, Oettinger has wheeled out something that will make the TCR look tame.

Dubbed the TCR Germany Street, the car packs more punch and attitude than the GTI TCR, with its turbocharged 2.0-litre TSI engine pushing out a mighty 265kW and 470Nm of torque, taking it dangerously close to the Mercedes-AMG A45 and Audi RS3.

With the extra firepower, the TCR Germany Street will demolish the 0-100km/h sprint in just over 5.0 seconds. Despite packing more punch than the Golf R, the tuned Golf is around 0.4 seconds slower due to the lack of all-wheel drive.

The TCR Germany Street has more in common with the TCR racer in terms of styling, too, with an aggressive wide body kit that adds 80mm to its width compared to a stock Golf GTI. Additionally, there are new bonnet vents, roof-mounted spoiler and diffuser amongst others.

Like the GTI TCR, Oettinger’s Golf GTI also gets some interesting decals, including the ‘2 Fast 4 You?!’ along the bottom edge of the tailgate.

Oettinger says the TCR Germany Street upgrade is available for the 2013 – 2018 Golf GTI and R.
