KW introduces electronic coilovers for Ford Focus RS

German aftermarket suspension manufacturer KW Automotive is rolling out the next generation of its coilover suspension kit. The new adaptive and electronically controlled KW DDC plug & play coilovers are now available for the Ford Focus RS hot hatch.

Designed the replace the factory’s standard suspension, the electronically adjustable coilover suspension can vary its damping force through a button mounted in the interior, which allows driver to switch between driving modes ‘on the fly’.  The KW DDC plug & play coilover is able to vary damping within one hundredth of a second.

KW claims the new electronic coilovers are designed to work with the Focus RS’ standard driving modes. The suspension’s damping is varied according to the four modes – Normal, Sport, Racetrack and Drift.

In addition to damping adjustment, the coilover kit also lowers the Focus RS. The adjustment of the lowering on the adaptive KW coilovers is made via the dirt-resistant KW trapezoidal thread on the stainless steel strut and the rear axle height adjustment. It allows a continuous lowering of 30 to 55 mm on the front axle and 35 to 55 mm at the rear axles.
