BMW Group, otherwise known as the master of niche, has allegedly another niche product scheduled to entre production sometime in 2017. This time it’s another high-riding coupé-SUV called the X2 (shown here as a render).
It will follow in the footsteps of the X6 and upcoming X4, and based on the second-generation X1. According to a BMW insider, the five-door X2 will be offered exclusively with an xDrive all-wheel drive system. A sportier looking three-door, to take on the ultra-successful Range Rover Evoque, is also likely.
It will also share the X1’s powerplants and paired to a six-speed manual gearbox as standard, with BMW’s eight-speed automatic available as an option.
