Volvo V40 Cross Country pricing and specifications

The all-new Volvo V40 Cross Country has arrived in Australia, with two engine options and two drivetrains – the V40 Cross Country D4 Luxury, priced from $47,990, and the V40 Cross Country T5 AWD priced from $52,990.

“Volvo is undergoing a rapid change in its model line-up and the V40 Cross Country is the latest addition,” says Matt Braid, Managing Director Volvo Car Australia.

“Where the Volvo XC models happily flex their muscles, the V40 Cross Country boasts a sleek ruggedness with unique features integrated into the stylish Scandinavian design. When it comes to driving dynamics, the V40 Cross Country offers an attractive mix of sportiness and comfort.

“Put simply, it brings a distinctive blend of luxury and ruggedness to the premium small car sector.”

The V40 Cross Country sits 40mm higher than the standard V40 and is distinguished with a black body kit front and rear, 18” MEFITIS matte black alloy wheels, honeycomb mesh grille, anodized black high-gloss frame around the windows, black-gloss wing mirrors, side scuff plates, rear skid plates and integrated roof rails.

Inside, the interiors is largely carried over from the V40 hatch on which it is based.

The 2.0-litre five-cylinder turbo diesel engine powers the D4 Luxury. It delivers 130kW and 400Nm @ 1,750-2,750rpm to the front wheels via a six-speed Adaptive Geartronic transmission. 0-100km/h is accomplished in 8.3 seconds while fuel consumption is rated at 5.3L/100km, thanks to engine stat-stop and braking energy regeneration.

The T5 AWD is propelled by a 2.5-litre five-cylinder turbo petrol engine that generates 187kW and 360Nm. Paired with the same six-speed Adaptive Geartronic gearbox, the T5 will accelerate from 0-100km/h in 6.4 seconds and returns 8.4L/100km.

Other highlights include Hill Descent Control, Volvo’s crash mitigation system called IntelliSafe, a pedestrian airbag, pedestrian and cyclist detection technology, Volvo’s City Safety system, Road Sign Information and Active High Beam amongst others.

An optional Driver Support Pack brings a number of key safety technologies together. The pack includes Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC) with Collision Warning and Full Auto Brake (CWAB); Blind Spot Information System (BLIS) and Cross Traffic Alert (CTA); Driver Alert System (which includes Active High Beam, Forward Collision Warning, Lane Keeping Aid, Lane Departure Warning, and Road Sign Information); and Park Assist Pilot. All options and prices can be found on the Technical Specification sheet.

The Belgian-built Volvo V40 Cross Country is available in showrooms now.
