No words yet on when it will be launched, but don’t be surprised it comes sooner rather than later. If and when it hits the market, the Golf R 400 will have the most powerful turbocharged 4-cylinder under the bonnet of any production car, eclipsing even the mind-blowing Mercedes A45 AMG, which puts out 260kW of power and 450Nm of torque.

Its EA888 2.0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder will churn out a monstrous 294kW and 450Nm, enabling the hot hatch to rocket from 0-100km/h in a mere 3.9 seconds, 0.7 seconds faster than the A45 AMG.
