Volkswagen has launched the Golf Alltrack in Australia, priced from $37,990 plus on-road costs.
Available in just one specification, the Alltrack debuts Volkswagen’s new 1.8-litre turbocharged four-cylinder TSI engine in the Golf range. It delivers 132kW and 280Nm of torque and is mated to a six-speed DSG transmission transferring power to all four wheels via the latest generation Haldex 4MOTION all-wheel drive system.
Claimed fuel efficiency is rated at 6.7L/100km thanks to standard engine start/stop and brake energy recuperation, as well as a coasting function – a feature of the Alltrack’s Eco drive mode, one of several adjustable settings available as part of the Alltrack’s driver profile selection that also includes sport and off-road modes.
To give the car a tougher stance, the Golf Alltrack sits up to 20mm higher than a standard Golf Wagon model, while wheel arch mouldings and flared side sills offer additional body protection. Rounding off the Alltrack’s exterior are newly designed bumpers with Bi-Xenon headlights with dynamic cornering function,17-inch ‘Valley’ alloy wheel and unique rear badging.
Inside, the seats are upholstered in Vienna leather upholstery while the 6.5-inch Discover Media infotainment system features Volkswagen’s latest App-Connect system that includes Apple CarPlay and Android Auto systems.
The new Golf Alltrack comes standard with multi-collision brakes, a driver Fatigue Detection system, a low tyre pressure indicator, parking distance sensors and reversing camera, ESP and XDL. In addition, seven airbags including front, front side, curtain (front and rear), and driver’s knee airbags have been installed to ensure standard safety features are met, along with safety optimised front head restraints and three-point seat belts.
Two optional packages are offered on the Golf Alltrack. The $1,300 Driver Assistance Package adds Adaptive Cruise Control, Front Assist with City Emergency Brake, Park Assist and a proactive occupant protection system.
The $2,500 Sports Luxury Package enhances the Golf Alltrack exterior and interior appearance with a panoramic electric glass sunroof, 18-inch ‘Canyon’ alloy wheels, gearshift paddles and dark tinted rear side and rear window glass.
Finally, metallic/pearl effect paint is an extra $500.
