Volkswagen has sure kept their apprentices busy. Not only have they created the mighty 235kW Golf Variant Youngster 5000, they have also been working on this Golf GTI Wolfsburg Edition – a one-off for the 33rd Wörthersee GTI gathering in Austria.

The result of 12 talented apprentices, this sporty two-door GTI has had its wick wound up to no less than 279kW (380PS)! Based on the Golf GTI Performance, the power boost was achieved by installing a carbon air box and a hand-welded stainless steel exhaust system featuring vacuum valve control which allows the engine sound to be adjusted.

Hand finished in Absolute Red with décor strips in Negro Magico Black, four young women and eight men took nine months to complete the project. Several bespoke parts were created especially for the car, including spoilers and claw-type inserts on the front bumper, door sills, and a rear spoiler with additional flaps and a rear diffuser.

Along with the wide stripes that run along the length of the car, the apprentices have positioned a special eye-catching side stripe featuring the Wolfburg skyline in absolute red on the side.

The interior of the car is decked out in red and black to complement the exterior. A pair of Recaro front bucket seats replace the standard seats at the front. The black leather multi-function steering wheel features decorative seams and painted Absolute Red spokes. The high-gloss black trim strips on the door trims have sprayed GTI logos, while the centre console features an integrated, stowable iPhone Docking Station.

Another highlight for the car is the 2,170-watt, 11-speakers high-end sound system. It boasts a monobloc amplifier with integrated LED lighting, a subwoofer and a PlayStation with 24-inch LED-LCD TV.
