The updated 2017 Nissan X-Trail has arrived in Australia, boasting enhancements to its exterior and interior styling, as well as the addition of a new 2.0-litre turbo-diesel engine and improved equipment levels across the range.
Visually, the upgrade brings Nissan’s bold new V-Motion grille to the mid-size SUV, giving it a family resemblance to the recently unveiled 2017 GT-R. Its headlights have also been revised to match the new grille, along with a more sculpted front bumper.
At the back, the rear combination lamps now get LED boomerang signature matched with a redesigned rear bumper, while new chrome-trim side door moldings and fresh alloys complete the freshened appearance.
Inside, the SUV gains a new D-shaped steering wheel, leather-booted sport-mode shifter, new door and instrument panel finishers, revised centre console and console lid and new seat fabric.
Advanced safety features have also found their way into the facelifted X-Trail, with intelligent cruise control, lane departure warning, lane departure prevention, forward emergency braking, blind spot warning and rear cross traffic alert on offer.
The current model’s 106kW/200Nm 2.0-litre and 126kW/226Nm 2.5-litre four-cylinder petrol are carried over, but the 1.6-litre turbo-diesel engine has been replaced by a 130kW/ 380Nm 2.0-litre turbo-diesel.
Like before, the entry-level 2.0L petrol model can be had with either a six-speed manual or CVT automatic, while the upper specs 2.5L petrol and 2.0L diesel are paired exclusively with the CVT. The range continues to be offered in both front-wheel and all-wheel drive formats, as well as five or seven-seat options.
