Ultra-exclusive Lamborghini Veneno Roadster revealed – 0-100km/h in 2.9s

Lamborghini Veneno Roadster profile

Lamborghini has taken the wraps off the Veneno Roadster. It will be one of the world’s most exclusive supercars, with no more than nine units to be built during the course of 2014 and with a matching price tag – €3.3 million.

You can forget about getting a roof either, because there’s none – just a strong rollover bar for optimum safety. The design itself is focused on optimum aerodynamics and stability through fast corners, with handling ‘akin to that of a racing prototype’. Yet, the Venone Roadster is fully road legal.

The Lamborghini roadster is powered by the same Aventador-derived 6.5-litre V12 engine that churns out 552kW (750hp) channelled to all four wheels via an extremely fast-shifting ISR transmission with five selectable modes. It is enough to propel the Veneno Roadster from 0-100km/h in a mere 2.9 seconds and hit a top speed of 355km/h (221mph).

The entire design of the Lamborghini Veneno Roadster has been laid out for perfect airflow and downforce. The front end works as a large aerodynamic wing. The visual division of the rear fenders from the car body is a reference to the world of racing cars and optimises the aerodynamic flow.

Lamborghini Veneno Roadster rear

Suspended on racing-inspired pushrod suspension and horizontal spring/damper units, the roadster’s smooth underbody transitions into a substantial diffuser framing the four sizable exhaust pipes divided by a splitter.

Thanks to a lightweight design with a carbon fibre monocoque and CFRP exterior body parts, the car tips the scales at only 1,490kg. The result is a power-to-weight ratio of 1.99kg/bhp. Its cabin is also made mostly of carbon fibre.
