Track-prepped Mercedes-AMG C63 R on the way

A track-prepped version of the Mercedes-AMG C63, dubbed the C63 R, is on its way in the next couple of years.

Rather than receiving a Black Series badge, the new C63 R will follow in the footsteps of the AMG GT R and destined to be the most focused variant in the C-Class lineup.

To that end, the car will be lighter than the ‘regular’ C63 S, thanks to more intensive use of aluminium and carbon fibre. A raft of aerodynamic enhancements is also expected, including a sizeable fixed rear wing.

On the power front, AMG engineers will massage the model’s 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8 to boost power and torque, said to be upwards of 441kW.

Mercedes-AMG intends to produce the C63 R in both coupe and sedan version.
