Switzer Tuned Nissan GT-R Clocks Fastest 1/4 Mile Sprint of 156.4 mph

The battle to build and tune the fastest Nissan GT-R is heated up once again with US based tuner Switzer joining the game with another Nissan GT-R to clock a sub 9 seconds quarter mile (400 metres) run.

Earlier this month, Switzer released the R1K performance kit for the Nissan GT-R which includes a pair of Garrett watercooled turbochargers. The Switzer tuned GT-R spins the dyno at a massive 1,005 all-wheel horsepower, joining the ranks of other 1,000 horsepower GT-R’s from renown tuners such as AMS Performance and SP Engineering.

For the first time, Switzer took their R1K GT-R to the drag strip and managed to achieve a best time of 9.38 seconds at 156.44 mph (251 kph), making it the fastest R35 GT-R. However, it is not the quickest, as AMS Performance’s GT-R still holds the record with a 9.33 seconds quarter mile run.

With such an intensive battle among the tuners, it won’t be long until we see an 8 second GT-R.
