Switzer tuned BMW M5 with 103kW power hike

Switzer Performance has launched a very affordable upgrade kit for the F10 BMW M5, costing just US$6,995 (roughly A$6,662) and is produced for enthusiasts who wants to keep their cars mostly stock.

The kit consists of high-flow drop-in air filters to help the engine breath easier and a removable engine control module that works in tandem with the stock systems for a higher boost from the engine’s two turbochargers. Power from the M5’s twin-turbo 4.4-litre V8 is lifted from 412kW (560hp) and 680Nm to 515kW and 867Nm.

In its stock tune, the BMW M5 covers 0-100km/h in 4.3 seconds. Although Switzer hasn’t released any performance figures, we expect the tuned M5 to shave at least a few tenth’s off the clock.

Switzer Performance has also addressed one of the most disappointing aspects of the new F10 BMW M5 – its exhaust note. To improve the car’s soundtrack, the tuner installed a new high-performance stainless steel exhaust system.

Finally, Switzer Performance has also announced they will be offering carbon-nano brake pads and Signature alloy wheels for all BMW M5s from MY2013 this June.
